Toggle the viewport toolbar select_visible_button Select Visible / select_through_button Select Through buttons to select only the visible objects or also the objects behind the surfaces when using a rectangular selection.

Select geometry components

Mesh vertices can be selected as the affected shape components for Painting and Sculpting Tools or to build / display information from the current selection:

  • click the selection menu in the viewport toolbar, select Select Geometries then select the Mesh.

  • click the component selection menu in the viewport toolbar, and select vertex component.

  • the vertices, along with edges, are now displayed on top of the Mesh and can be selected.

Some actions are provided to deal with the vertex selection, as exposed in the Select>Components menu:

Edge Loop
Select all the vertices on the shortest part of the edge loop between the 2 lastly selected vertices, if they are on the same edge loop.
An other way to select an edge loop is to double-click on a second vertex.

Note

If the two vertices are direct neighbors, then the whole edge loop is selected

Grow

Extend the vertices selection by one ring of neighbors.

Shrink

Reduce the vertices selection by one ring of neighbors.

Grow Edge Loop

Extend the selection of the edge loop part by one vertex at each end.

Shrink Edge Loop

Reduce the selection of the edge loop part by one vertex at each end.

Smooth

Extend the vertices selection by one ring of neighbors with fading selection weight (the initial selection always have a weight of 1).
